July 13 at the Odessa National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater hosted the opening ceremony of the OIFF-2018, during which the films-participants of the contest programs, members of the jury and other star guests
Film professionals from all over the world gathered at the Opera House at the opening ceremony of the OIFF-2018. The hosts of the evening were Yanina Sokolova and Oleg Panyuta. This year, the OIFF received 1011 applications for participation in competitive programs, and 108 films from 95 countries will be presented at the festival.
The opening ceremony was opened by the creative association of the artists of the Apache Crew dancers.
During the opening ceremony, the films of the contest programs were also announced: 12 paintings were presented at the OIFF-2018 International Competition, 6 works were included in the European Documentary Film Competition, and the National Program consists of 5 full-length and 13 short films.
Also, the jury of the 9th OIFF was announced. The jury was chaired by producer Eva Puschinska (Poland).
On the opening day, shows began at the Green Theater, in particular, the audience could see, within the non-competitive program, special screenings, tapes dedicated to the memory of the director, screenwriter, actress Kira Muratova "Short Encounters" and "Doll".
Recall that the solemn closing ceremony will be held on July 21. During it, we learn the names of all the winners of the 9th Odessa International Film Festival.
